Alumnus Receives Top Honors at Word Awards

June 18, 2014

Rev. Ken Shigematsu (M.Div. ’95) received top honors at The Word Awards for his best-selling debut book, God in My Everything (Zondervan, 2013).

The book was named Christian Living Book of the Year and received honorable mention for the prestigious Grace Irwin Prize, Canada's largest literary prize for Christian writers.

God in My Everything: How an Ancient Rhythm Helps Busy People Enjoy God outlines the idea of a rule of life—which is more of a “life-giving rhythm” than a set of rules. The rule of life is an ancient monastic practice that Ken discovered on a pilgrimage to Ireland.

Ken serves as senior pastor of Tenth Church in Vancouver, B.C., and is a former trustee of Gordon-Conwell.

The Word Awards, “which encourage the pursuit of excellence in the art, craft, practice and ministry of writing,” were hosted by The Word Guild in Mississauga, Ontario, on June 11.
