Gordon-Conwell Student Addresses United States Election

November 9, 2016

Hello dearly cherished Friends & Family!

Greetings in Christ. As you rise to a new American President-elect, I am aware that there is a mixed feeling of hope and uncertainty, the joy of coming to the end of a unparalleled election campaign season and the earnest anticipation of what is next. Many around the world in God's global Church have diligently stood with you in praying.

It's same with BREXIT, its same as Ghana goes to the polls on December 7, and country after country in Africa votes out of the ICC. It's the same with Brazil and as Russia tightens bilateral relations with China - yes, a truly VUCA world [Volatile, Uncertainty, Change & Ambiguity].

In all of these, there is one conviction that holds our global friendships and family in Christ together. An old, old chorus puts it assuredly - "All may change but JESUS NEVER."

I wanted to share with you these Scriptures as they unite us in our common convictions and commitments to the gospel:

"Let be and be still, and know (recognize and understand) that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations! I will be exalted in the earth! The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our Refuge (our High Tower and Stronghold). Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!" Psalm 46:10-11 AMP

"Peace I leave with you; My [own] peace I now give and bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. [Stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.]"
 John 14:27 AMPC

“I’m telling you these things while I’m still living with you. The Friend, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send at my request, will make everything plain to you. He will remind you of all the things I have told you. I’m leaving you well and whole. That’s my parting gift to you. Peace. I don’t leave you the way you’re used to being left—feeling abandoned, bereft. So don’t be upset. Don’t be distraught.
" John 14:25-27 MSG

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
 Philippians 4:6-7 NIV

"Let's continue HIS GREAT STORY - pressing on towards the goal and to win the prize for which God has called us heavenward in Christ Jesus!" Philippians 3:12-15
